Cool & TAN For The Summer!!!

Is anyone else’s skin thirsty for some vitamin D????

This April-May cloudy-rainy-raw weather is a total downer! I need SUN! And in absence of those ultraviolet rays, I need PRODUCT!

Lucky for me, I have St. Tropez to help bridge the gap to our first beach weekend! This mousse is fantabulous! It smells pretty good, too. There are other formulas, but I like this one best. The color is instantaneous and will deepen as the hours pass. If you want a sexy glow, apply it every other day for a week. You’ll look like a bronzed goddess (or god, it works great for everyone). It’s pricey (around $35) but it’s a big bottle and will last you for quite a while (mine has been at least a month and a half).

One hint…use gloves! Latex ones that actually fit your hand, unless you’re allergic… Powder free is best. I like my hands tan so once I finish slathering the mousse all over my body, I take one glove off and squirt a bit onto the top of my bare hand and rub it in with the gloved hand. Once the other glove comes off, I squirt a bit of tanner onto my second bare hand and then rub it in with the top of my other hand. Nothing ever gets rubbed into the palm! Ever! Always glove up, especially if you’re a fan of the french manicure, which I AM! These gloves are great and only about $9.

Now, before you start this whole process, you need to prep. Exfoliate all the dead cells from your skin, making it smooth, polished and ready to absorb all that delicious color! St. Ives makes a yummy apricot scrub and at a little over $5, it won’t break the bank.

A couple of final tips…be sure to moisturize the insides and outsides of your elbows and knees, cuticles, heels and ankles. These areas get extra dry and you don’t want the color to settle in those places.

Happy tanning!

Can You Be Disruptive Enough To Win $50K??

TechCrunch Disrupt 2015 is upon us. It’s time to take the party to NYC, for the bargain price of $2,995. General admission gets you access to ALL – rub elbows with up and coming entrepreneurs, hear from industry superstars, check out all the cutting edge technology…maybe party is an understatement. =)

You may recognize the event name from the HBO show Silicon Valley. Season 2 premiered on Sunday night and although I had high hopes of being able to stay up until 10, it wasn’t happening. So Hubby and I watched last night and it was awesome. Long time coming, definitely didn’t disappoint.

Anyway, I digress.

Last season, Pied Piper presented their compression algorithm at Tech Crunch Disrupt in Cali. All I remember thinking was, how flipping cool would it be to actually GO? Answer – SUPER COOL. The Hackathon, a 24-hour event for developers and designers, kicks off the festivities and guess what? It really happens just like in the show. All the companies present their creations but only one takes home the famed Disrupt Cup and $50,000 prize. Hundreds of startups will be in attendance…only one will claim the top prize and instant stardom (okay, maybe not the last part but they’ll at least they’ll be able to keep the lights on until some VC throws some more seed money at them).

It would be AWESOME to hear from people like Ben Rubin and Kayvon Beykpour, CEOs of Meerkat and Periscope respectively, Carly Fiorina, the former boss of HP, and Dennis Crowley who’ll chat about Foursquare and Swarm.

Energy, entrepreneurship and excitement will be exploding out of the Manhattan Center in a few short weeks.

How ironic that I’ll be headed to the Valley at the same time. Oh well. Maybe next time.
